Video: 5 Tips for a Home Practice

The conversation goes like this:

Person: I can’t practice at home
Me: Why
Person: It’s too hard
Me: What about it is hard?
Person: It’s not the same
Me: Of course not, but you can still totally practice at home, a hotel room, a beach, your back yard - just about anywhere

And then come the excuses. And I don’t mean “reasons” - reasons are different things. But sometimes we put up unnecessary barriers or we are just a bit shy or embarrassed to ask for the time and space we need to carve out a home practice. So I made this video that outlines FIVE tips for starting a home practice while we’re all self distancing :) If you’re not in the mood to watch the video I’ll outline the tips briefly below:

  1. Discipline: don’t make excuses, just get started

  2. Consistency: make appointments with yourself

  3. Surrender: it’s not going to be perfect, and that’s okay

  4. Creativity: try different stuff, if you’re a power yoga person - try some restorative, etc.

  5. Communication: if you have people around you, tell them what you need for space and time and then ask them what they need
