DESCRIPTION

Join us for a one of a kind event sure to delight your senses from multiple angles! Set in the majestic Santa Cruz mountains, 10 minutes outside downtown Los Gatos, the Burrel School Vineyard is a charming, historic location with a passion for cultivating wonderful wines.

Our event will begin with a 60 minute Hatha yoga session on the Burrel School porch overlooking rolling vineyards and lush mountains. This unique session will aim to heighten our awareness of both our body and our connection to our surroundings through posture, meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises). By noticing the more subtle information and sensations in our practice and environment - we loosen the grip of the busy or distracted daily grind and really appreciate the more subtle notes of the moment at hand.

With our body and awareness more in-tune, you will then enjoy a 60 minute tasting that includes three red wines and two whites of our vintners choosing. On theme with the event, the staff will aim to help you explore more subtle notes of taste within the varietals of wine and broaden your understanding of how to pair wines and improve upon the tasting experience.

Personal Side Note for Fellow Yoga Nerds:
I want to ensure those yoga purists that I have thought about the pairing of yoga with alcohol on more than on occasion. Is it appropriate / what does it mean? Should I even entertain the idea?

While I want to be clear that I do not promote heavy drinking in collaboration with yoga and am a bit of a snob about events like "yoga with goats" or "beer yoga" where you drink or are otherwise distracted by some "froofy" fad while practicing, I do think there is an argument for the more subtle aspects of sensation (taste, smell, sight, texture) and tuning into your environment that can be explored through this experience. I also love that this experience aimed at exploring a location and a culture with rich history and tradition. Lastly, I think like idea of helping people commune with the high vibration of nature, I love the idea of sun salutations with the setting sun, and I love the idea of taking heightened sensation to see if we can identify more subtle notes within a well crafted wine tasting. So if you are a fellow yoga nerd like me, and had an eyebrow raised - well, there's my thoughts on it.
